AUTh is the largest higher education institution in Greece and south-eastern Europe, with 13 faculties and a total of 42 departments and 4 independent schools. It has also branch campuses in Serres, Veria. The University has two main goals – to educate its undergraduate and postgraduate students, and to produce original scientific knowledge and innovative research.
AUTh is in constant and close cooperation with universities, organisations and research centres both in Greece and abroad. Agreements on Scientific Cooperation have been signed with 140 corresponding universities or equivalent higher education institutions in Europe, the Balkan and Black Sea countries, Russia, the U.S.A., Canada, Australia, the Near, Middle and Far East. Furthermore AUTh participates in 60 international educational organisations, associations and university networks and 13 student organisations, aimed at international cooperation of the academic community to promote and develop academic and research activity.
City_Space_Flux AUTh (CSF) constitutes an interdepartmental research unit of AUTh that promotes knowledge, innovative research and pilot practices on topics that focus on the strong linkages between spatial and transport planning. Its special emphasis is on cities and the interactions between urban dynamics, city structure, travel behaviour and spatial flows of any character.
CSF is specialized in urban planning and regeneration, sustainable mobility, historical evolution and transformation of the cities, cultural heritage enhancement and sustainable tourism, climate change impacts and resilience, participatory planning practices.
